Workshops with Kelly Leigh

Art by Kelly Leigh

Welcome to the creative world of Kelly Leigh, an Indigenous artist whose work honours culture, story, and the relationship between land and community. Kelly offers painting and beading workshops that blend traditional teachings with contemporary artistry, creating inclusive spaces for learning, reflection, and connection.

Workshops Offered:

1. Contemporary Indigenous Art & Expression

Blending traditional knowledge with modern creative styles, this workshop encourages participants to experiment with colour, texture, and symbolism. We explore how Indigenous teachings can inform contemporary art practice, with an emphasis on personal identity and community stories. Participants are supported in developing their own visual language and leave with a completed painting that reflects their unique perspective.

2. Introduction to Indigenous Beadwork

A welcoming, beginner-friendly workshop focused on the cultural significance and foundational techniques of beadwork. Participants learn about traditional patterns, colour teachings, and the role of beadwork in community life. Guided step-by-step instruction ensures everyone leaves with a completed piece, whether earrings, a medallion, or a simple floral motif. All materials are provided.

Kelly Leigh offers workshops for:

  • Schools and youth programs

  • Community organizations
